Frederick Forsyth is not a prolific writer.

To date, he has only written three full-length novels. And yet The Day of the Jackal, The Odessa File and The Dogs of War have all become instant bestsellers around the world. Already, his first two books have been made into successful feature films. Forsyth's writing is characterised by a blend of uncannily authentic detail and superb story-telling. The facts are drawn from his own many experiences as a front-line war correspondent; the fiction, from something the craftsmen at Rolex appreciate only too well -a sense of style. Frederick Forsyth wears a Rolex Day-Date watch. In 18ct gold, with matching bracelet, it is certainly easy on the eye. But, as he explains, it is also immensely practical. "I can wear my Rolex all the time. I never have to take it off, even to use a chain saw. Nothing seems to bother it" At home - a magnificent house set in 25 acres of County Wicklow, The Garden of Ireland -he enjoys the occasional afternoon's shooting- but only for wood-pigeon. Apart from his Rolex, Frederick Forsyth is particularly pleased with the coat you see him wearing in the photograph. He spotted it in a shop in London, and asked of what fur the collar was made. The assistant told him.
